Fireplace Screen Height 35 - Plus

Keep in mind that while you may be buying a fireplace screen to enhance the beauty of your fireplace the main purpose of a fireplace screen is to keep the fire sparks out of your room.  To do this you need to know how to measure for the correct size fireplace screen.  Sizing is very important in order for the fireplace screen to do the job it was meant to do. 

Single Panel Fireplace Screen – be sure to measure the height and the width of your fireplace opening.  Then look for fireplace screens that are 1-2 inches wider and taller than the opening.  This is to ensure that sparks do not get beyond the screen and into the room. If you are looking at a fireplace screen with a height of 35” or more then your fireplace opening is 34” high.  

Folding Panel Fireplace Screens – because these screens fold you need for them to be 10–12 inches wider than the fireplace opening so you can fold them enough to ensure that they do not tip over.  You want them to cover the entire opening.  Also make sure they are 1-3 inches taller than the opening.  If you are looking at a fireplace screen with a height of 35” or more then your fireplace opening is 34” high.
