Fireplace Screen Widths

When you are purchasing a fireplace screen it is important to get the size right.  It is great fun to pick a fireplace screen that makes a beautiful statement in front of your fireplace but don’t forget that one of the purposes of the fireplace screen is to keep the fire sparks out of your room while allowing the warmth from the fireplace to enter the room. 

In order to help you find the fireplace screen that is the right size we give you the option here of viewing the fireplace screens by width.  Your width choices for your fireplace screen have been divided into six categories.  Just find the one that is appropriate for your size fireplace, click on it and select from the options you find there.

Single Panel Fireplace Screen – be sure to measure the height and the width of your fireplace opening.  Then look for fireplace screens that are 1-2 inches wider and taller than the opening.  This is to ensure that sparks do not get beyond the screen and into the room.

Folding Panel Fireplace Screens – because these fireplace screens fold you need for them to be 10–12 inches wider than the fireplace opening so you can fold them enough to ensure that they do not tip over.  You want them to cover the entire opening.  Also make sure they are 1-3 inches taller than the opening.

Spark Guard Fireplace Screen – these are meant to fit snuggly against your fireplace. Select a size that will cover at least 1” on both sides and top of the fireplace opening.  This is to ensure that sparks do not get beyond the screen and into the room.  This is a great choice for homes with pets and small children.
