Fireplace Screen Panels

When you are purchasing a fireplace screen you will find yourself confronted with many options.   There are probably more options in selecting a fireplace screen than in any other fireplace item.  You have style, finish, manufacturer, width, height and number of panels.  The number of panels that make up the fireplace screen is how you can select your fireplace screen here. You can choose between single, 3, 4, and 5 panel fireplace screens along with sparkguard fireplace screen and fireplace screen with doors.     

The size of the fireplace screen you need has a lot of bearing on the number panels you have on your fireplace screen.  To make sure you have the right size please use the sizing guide that follows:

Single Panel Fireplace Screen – be sure to measure the height and the width of your fireplace opening.  Then look for fireplace screens that are 1-2 inches wider and taller than the opening.  This is to ensure that sparks do not get beyond the screen and into the room.

Folding Panel Fireplace Screens – because these fireplace screens fold you need for them to be 10–12 inches wider than the fireplace opening so you can fold them enough to ensure that they do not tip over.  You want them to cover the entire opening.  Also make sure they are 1-3 inches taller than the opening.

Spark Guard Fireplace Screen – these are meant to fit snuggly against your fireplace. Select a size that will cover at least 1” on both sides and top of the fireplace opening.  This is to ensure that sparks do not get beyond the screen and into the room.  This is a great choice for homes with pets and small children.
